Evan A. Mongiardo, Esquire, prior to establishing Mongiardo Law Group with his wife and law partner, Kara Mongiardo Esquire, served as a prosecutor with the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office for over a decade. Evan left the Prosecutor's Office as the Senior Assistant Prosecutor in Charge of the Narcotics, Gangs, and Violent Crimes Task Force. In his role, he supervised a group of dedicated detectives who investigated drug and violent crimes throughout New Jersey, as well as the United States. These investigations and prosecutions also involved international connections, which included the countries of Mexico, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, the United Kingdom, Spain, and Australia, among others. Evan was responsible for coordinating investigations and prosecutions among various Federal, state, and local agencies with the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office. These agencies included the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), United States Secret Service, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), United States Marshall Service, United States Postal Inspector, New Jersey State Police, and various local law enforcement partners throughout New Jersey.
While serving as a prosecutor, Evan had the distinction to try the most jury trials for the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office from the period of 2015 through 2025. The cases which Evan was involved in prosecuting to a verdict included charges related to murder, aggravated manslaughter, strict liability induced homicide, attempted murder, endangering the welfare of a child, sexual assault, terroristic threats, unlawful possession of a weapon (handguns), unlawful possession of a weapon (assault firearms), first-degree drug offenses, and aggravated assault. Evan has also been certified by the New Jersey Police Training Commission to teach police officers at police academies. Evan, based upon his expertise and experience, has taught hundreds of police officers in the fields of narcotics prosecution, trial advocacy, and sexual based offenses.
Prior to joining the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office, Evan clerked for the Honorable Adam Jacobs J.S.C., who then was assigned to the Criminal Part in Passaic County. During his clerkship, Evan also had the opportunity to mediate hundreds of cases in the Civil Part, specifically related to small claims and landlord/tenant disputes.
Prior to obtaining his law license, Evan attended Wake Forest University School of Law, where he obtained his Juris Doctor and graduated cum laude. While at Wake Forest, Evan was on the editorial staff of the Wake Forest Law Review and participated in the Wake Forest Law School Pro Bono Wills clinic, where he assisted in drafting wills for residents throughout the state of North Carolina.
Evan obtained his undergraduate degree from the Pennsylvania State University, where he was admitted to Phi Beta Kappa based upon his academic achievements.
Evan is also currently an Adjunct Professor at Caldwell University. He has served in that role since Fall 2018, teaching hundreds of students in courses which include Criminalistics, Criminal Investigations, Criminal Law, and United States Courts.
