In this role, he oversaw and supervised a unit whose role was to conduct long-term investigations throughout the areas of Paterson, Passaic, Clifton, Newark, Jersey City, Hackensack, as well as many other towns in New Jersey, that dealt with drug trafficking and drug related offenses. Some of these investigations touched upon international connections which included Colombia, Mexico, Dominican Republic, United Kingdom, Spain, and Australia. In his role, Evan worked directly with investigations that involved Federal partners, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), Federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), United States Secret Service, Homeland Security Investigations, and United States Marshall Service. Evan also coordinated these investigations with local and state law enforcement partners throughout the New Jersey area. As a result of these investigations, large quantities of drugs, cash, and personal items were seized by law enforcement agencies (shown below).
The investigations were just the first stage of the criminal process, as Evan was responsible for presenting these matters to a Grand Jury and prosecuting them to a conclusion. Evan has handled hundreds of drug cases over the course of his career, including securing jury verdicts which encompassed charges related to first-degree drug distribution offenses.
